Hello again everyone! It's been a while... Sorry.
So as I said last time, it's time to tell you how freshers fair went.
If you don't know, freshers fair is a big even where all the clubs and societies can have their own stall where you can speak to them about the club, and sign up to them. It was an interesting day where I picked up a fair (see what I did there ;) ) few freebies which included a bottle of Lucozade and a truck load of pens.
Obviously, being me I decided to sign up to an excessive amount of clubs/societies. I think it was about 10 or 11 at the last count. Among those were 4 different sports clubs. I joined Football, Futsal, Fencing and Rugby. However the football and rugby trials were on the same day so I just didn't bother going and dropped it. The other three sports I've kept up with and I've actually got a Fencing tournament/competition tomorrow. Apart from the sports I also signed up for the BioScience society, RockSoc, Band and Gig Society, and a few others I can't remember... As you can probably already tell I've sorta failed at keeping up with most of the societies I joined but the ones that I've been able to be active in I've really enjoyed. The only problem I've had is that all of my sports seem to want to train/play on Sunday so I end up doing around 6 hours of sports on a Sunday, which keeps me fit at least.
So since then, apart from keeping an active social life with all the sports socials and other events I've actually been quite busy with actual university work. We've already had 2 essays to write which is kind of a new thing to me as I never really had to write essays for biology or chemistry while I was doing A-levels. Yes that's right I said essays for chemistry. We had a "Cell and Development" essay on building an organism, and a Chemistry essay on the importance of water on the structure and behavior of biological molecules, and yes it was as boring as it sounds.
On the less boring side, we've now started a proper biology module on animal and plant diversity, which is actually really fun. The practicals are way better than the Cell ones, basically because we actually deal with animals.
What else can I tell you about...? Umm... I think that's probably it for now.
I'll try and keep this up to date regularly, and I'll keep you in the loop on my Fencing thing tomorrow ;)
Cheers, and see yooh soon!
:)
